Hi I’m Steve Spingys and photography has been a hobby of mine for a long time, in fact some 40 years.
Today I enjoy photography as much as I did when I got my first camera, a Canon AE1 film camera purchased with my first pay packet.
I spent many an hour processing a roll of black and white film then printing in my make shift darkroom in the loft.
Todays photography has changed but the rewards remain the same, and now the world is a smaller place and with the use of the internet we can display our images for all to see.
I spent many years with a camera attached to my head ! but this involved jumping out of an aircraft at 15000 feet and filming skydiving teams and photographing people "enjoying" the feeling of freefall as they experienced a tandem skydive.
I have had many opportunities to turn my hobby into a profession but I never wanted to allow finance to take away the pleasure of just capturing an image when, where and how I liked.
Subject matter has changed with time, Rock bands and gigs to Classic cars and motorbikes but landscapes have always been my main interest and the Peak District and the Lakes have always been my favourite destinations.
Now living in Edale, in the Peak District National Park, has opened up endless opportunities to capture the beautiful landscape, wildlife and environment that surrounds me.
Please browse the gallery and hopefully you will enjoy my images as much as I have capturing them.
